Ongoing Research
The USF/ACH Children's Research Institute represents a partnership between All Children's Hospital and the University of South Florida Department of Pediatrics. It is a state-of-the art 50,000 square foot building and was dedicated in February 2000. Generous donors made the gifts to establish the research chairs and endowments, which were also matched by the State of Florida's Eminent Scholars Program. The $12 million facility is the home to seven endowed chairs who join the list of Pediatric Endowed Chairs.
The USF Department of Pediatrics earned a coveted spot in academic medicine this year-a top-10 research ranking from the National Institutes of Health. in 2006, the department ranked second out of more than 90 pediatric departments in medical schools across the country-up from 51 st place ranking in 2003. This ranking puts us in good company with Department of Pediatrics at Baylor, Vanderbilt University, Washington University School of Medicine and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to name a few.
